By now, we’re well into 2019, and already it’s been an exciting year for us! But 2018 was an incredible year, so we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on what a massive year it was for us at Living Goodness.
We collaborated
2018 for us was all about connecting and collaborating with other Kiwi foodies, and the opportunity to create a sauerkraut beer with Hallertau definitely tops the list for us! The deliciously pink beer brewed with our Heartbeet Kraut juice had a distinct taste that we really enjoyed.
We also added a particular zing to the Burger Fuel Seoul Train burger, which featured our Sum Yum Kimchi alongside other Korean flavours. This was a limited time burger, but if you ask nicely, we might tell you how to make something similar at home ;)
We connected
Meeting all of you guys was definitely a highlight of 2018. Heading to events across the country is our favourite parts of the job, because it gives us the chance to share our love of kraut with newbies, and help a whole new generation of foodies become kraut lovers too!
One of our favourite events last year was the Fine Food show where we got to meet lots of interesting people from the hospitality industry, cafes & restaurants. Many had heard of fermented foods and were keen to try them before putting them on their menus so this was a great opportunity for us.
We chowed down
Being the foodies that we are, we spent plenty of 2018 discovering new ingredients and flavours to enjoy, and what pairs well with our fermented favourites.
Our favourite discovery of 2018 was probably New Zealand Quinoa - not only do Kate and Hamish have a great story, but it’s fantastic to see Kiwi’s grow quinoa locally, instead of sourcing from South America. We definitely recommend you give them a try!
We conquered
Everyday we feel like winners, but even more so on the day we became winners of the Healthy Food Guide awards for best fermented food with our Sum Yum Kimchi and Highly Recommended for our Quick Draw Slaw.
But nothing makes us feel more appreciated than all of the fantastic fermented food feedback you all share with us on Facebook and Instagram.
So what’s on the cards for 2019?
You’ll just have to wait and see, but we can promise something delightfully salty might be hitting your tastebuds rather soon...
