5 Sauerkraut recipes that prove it isn’t a boring dish
Sauerkraut can sometimes get a bad wrap. Unless you’re a hardcore cabbage-head, then sauerkraut might not sound or look all that appetising. It can conjure up images of bland, soggy cabbage side dishes paired with unseasoned schnitzel, sausages, or any number of other plain, and frankly boring meals!
Not on our watch!
We’re here to challenge that idea, with this delicious list of exciting and tasty meals that bring out the wild side of sauerkraut! It truly is a versatile and nutritious food, and can work with almost any kind of dish if you’re creative enough, and this list is a great place to start.
#1. The Humble Cheese Toastie
This is usually a sandwich you make when you’re craving some seriously lazy comfort food, but add a little beetroot kraut, and you’ve got a whole new dish with minimal effort.
#2. Japanese Style Macrobiotic Salad
Sauerkraut also works when you’re a little bit more on the upmarket side, and this Japanese style salad is a refreshing, delicious, and highly nutritious way to impress anyone (or any tum!)
