Because sometimes you just need a little inspiration.

#1. Goulash

Goulash is a Hungarian soup/stew dish and has been eaten by many for centuries. It’s the perfect, hearty dish for the Winter time as it makes good use of meat and vegetables, mixed with strong flavours and served piping hot to warm you from the inside out. This dish has been around for so long, and has become a staple in so many Central European countries that there are many varieties to try out. Our favourite is the Székely Gulyás variety which omits the potatoes and adds sauerkraut and sour cream - I’m sure you can guess why we love it so much!

#2. Simple Salad

Sometimes you just want to throw something together that is low on effort and big on flavour, and you need look no further than one of our favourite simple salads. All it takes is grated beetroot, grated carrot, a handful of your favourite seeds, plus a helping of our Naked Sauerkraut measured with the heart. Mix the carrot, beetroot & Naked Kraut together with a little olive oil.  The juices with the olive oil mean you don’t need to add a dressing but of course you can always add some! Sprinkle with your favorite seeds, we love sesame, pumpkin & hemp but you can use whatever you have in the cupboards.

Dish it up as a meal for one, or take it to your next pot luck where we’re sure it’ll be a hit.

#3. Pulled Pork Tacos

We love Mexican tacos as much as the next person, but there’s something about Asian fusion style tacos that really takes it to the next level. You can enjoy the same variety of spices and fresh vegetables as you like, but there’s a different flavour to it which is exciting. You really can’t beat this recipe by Nadia Eves where she takes Pulled Pork and our Naked Sauerkraut and turns it into something amazing.

#4. Braised Chicken

For a comforting dish this winter try this deep, savoury, German-inspired apple sauerkraut braised chicken. Full flavours, comforting and warm, this dish is perfect to warm the soul from the inside out. Check out the recipe on our website to switch up your next Sunday roast.

#5. Sourdough Pie

If you’re a fan of the classic Kiwi pie, you might get a kick out of Crazy Cucumber’s sourdough pie. Inspired by the Italian calzone, but packed with chorizo and sauerkraut flavours, this is a culinary fusion that is easy to pull off! It’s a real taste explosion, but it’s also a truly impressive dish you can whip out when your in-laws come around.
