We’re big fans of the Quick Draw Slaw, and for those who have tried it, it’s a fast favourite for them too.
But where did the inspiration come from? How did we create such a uniquely delicious flavour that is altogether quite different from our other products?
Well, when creating any new product, it’s all about throwing things against the wall (or in the jar) to see what sticks. We trial lots of different ingredients and flavours, before it’s good enough to test on our willing victims (aka friends and family).
When it came to the Quick Draw Slaw, we started off on a great foot, because we’d discovered a similar recipe by Sandor Katz - known as the Godfather of kraut. It doesn’t get much better than a recipe from the Godfather himself, and Peter was intrigued by the variety of vegetables and spices in the recipe that he hadn’t seen anywhere else. Godfathers aside we still needed to make sure our friends and family enjoyed it.
With the taste seal of approval the next step is all about refining ingredients and getting it ready for the public.
But wait, we’re missing something…
A killer name!
Quick Draw Slaw really just sounded right - maybe if we’d called it ‘Fermented Coleslaw’ a few more people would be keen to try it. But when you’re a gunslinging quick draw like our slaw, you need a name that fits.
Quick Draw or Fermented Coleslaw, it’s still a favourite of ours, and it goes fantastic on a cheese platter. It’s a flavour kick that really compliments most savoury flavours.
Have you tried it? What’s your favourite way to enjoy it?
