Where are we now?
If you hadn’t heard already, Living Goodness made the big move from our factory on Rosebank Road Avondale, to a bigger, better one in Helensville!
We had been thinking about making the move for a while, because we were starting to outgrow our old place. The new place feels HUGE compared to our old one.
Also, we live in Helensville, and that commute to and from work down the 16 started to definitely lose its charm! Now we get to avoid the classic Auckland commute and that makes us much happier.
However, there wasn’t a huge amount of commercial property available in the Helensville & Waimauku/Kumeu area that was affordable & workable for our needs. Luckily our neighbour is a real estate agent and let us know as soon as this place went on the market. Previously a honey bee company the first time we viewed the property it was swarming with bees which was pretty scary! But it backs onto the river, was partly a new build warehouse, and within 10 minutes from home – could anything be more perfect?
The new location has been great for us, and there’s so much to love about being here in Helensville. Already we’ve met lots of the local businesses, and found there are 3 other fermenting businesses along our road, Mamas Kombucha, Liberty Brewery & The Real Bread Project – so we feel our fermenting foods fit right in.
We’re also really enjoying the sense of community - we’re always seeing and experiencing people helping each other out. Recently we had the Helensville Recycling Centre come down and do a waste audit. They’ve already identified ways we can divert waste from landfill which is something we’re really excited about!
Plus we’ve been able to hire some fantastic local people which is not only great for the community but helps us too.
Moving the business was incredibly stressful and building a commercial kitchen as part of that move has been close to one of the most stressful times Peter & I have been through. But hats off to Peter for project managing the move and some excellent companies such as Stendy Electrical and Chill 360 without who we’d never have achieved it. Thanks guys!
We’re hoping this move will mean our business will be able to grow and develop more products so definitely watch this space!
