Add a little extra to some of your favourites.
Finding a recipe you love is always exciting, but nothing quite beats the rush of changing that recipe to be perfect for you. Being the kraut-lovers we are, we’re particularly fond of “krautifying” our meals. That is to say, adding our fermented flare wherever we can! Here are a few of our favourites:
#1. BePure’s Iron-Rich Pulled Beef Tacos - KRAUTIFIED
Tacos are always a winner, and these ones are gold medal worthy. Rich in vitamins and flavour, these were already perfect, but we swapped out the mango salsa for our Heartbeet Kraut and it was a game-changer. It matches the sweet from the mango salsa but with a tangy twist you’ll love.
#2. Nourish Bowls - KRAUTIFIED
Nourish Bowls are the easiest dish to krautify, so we had to mention it! There’s no recipe needed, but if you need some guidance this one by Food To Love is a great starting point. Nourish Bowls are all about being rich in nutrients and low on food waste. They’re perfect for when your fridge is full of leftovers and you’re sick of eating them. Choose a kraut that fits with what you have, but if you’re following this one by Food To Love then we highly recommend our Quick Draw Slaw.
#3. Crispy Tofu and Prawn Spicy Noodles - KRAUTIFIED
Leno at Crazy Cucumber already has plenty of delicious recipes that include kraut and kimchi but we just couldn’t help ourselves, we had to krautify their Crispy Tofu and Prawn Spicy Noodles. If you haven’t tried these noodles you absolutely must! To krautify you can add an extra kick with our Sum Yum Kimchi [LINK], or you can add a fishy flare with our Super Superkraut - the world is your oyster! Or should we say prawns…
#4. Chocolate Cake - KRAUTIFIED
Yes you heard us correctly! Sometimes we even krautify our sweet treats. We generally only try this with our Heartbeet Kraut, as it’s sweet enough to mix well, has a gorgeous colour that it adds to everything, and there are plenty of baking recipes out there already using beetroot. If you’re feeling brave enough to try it we recommend this one by All Recipes which features beetroot. For your first try just swap out half of the beetroot with our Heartbeet Kraut and adjust the recipe to your liking.
#5. Burgers - KRAUTIFIED
Burgers are just as easy to krautify as Nourish Bowls, and everyone already knows how to make them. Swap out the lettuce for your favourite kraut or kimchi and suddenly it’s a whole new flavour combination! If you’re looking for some inspiration we highly recommend the BBQ Haloumi Burgers by the My Food Bag team. Krautify it how you want, but we recommend our Sassy for this one.
