How our products are quick to the draw and easy on the absorption
We sling around quite a few terms on our website; probiotic, prebiotic, alkalizing, and bioavailability – but what could it all mean?
With our Quick Draw Slaw taking centre stage this month, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about the bioavailability of your food, and more specifically how it is increased in the fermentation process.
Our delightfully tasty Quick Draw is packed full of as many veggies as we could possibly fit in a jar. Sure, you’ve got your classic cabbage, carrot, and onion, but we got a bit excited and decided to throw in celeriac, ginger, chilli, garlic, caraway seeds, and celery as well for good measure!
All of these are a great source of nutrients on their own, each featuring large amounts of vitamins such as C, K, and B, as well as plenty of iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and other important “um’s”. You could really spend all day listing the nutrients in these foods, but we’re sure by now you’ve cottoned on that vegetables are good for you.
All these nutrients are great - but is our body really benefiting from all of them?
Although our bodies work hard every day to undo any damage we might do to them, plenty of factors prevent us from absorbing each and every good nutrient that reaches our tummies.
This is where bioavailability comes in!
Bioavailability, simply put, is talking about how available the nutrients are to absorb. If a food is more bioavailable, it means our bodies can more efficiently and successful absorb the good stuff.
This is great news for our Quick Draw lovers, because the fermentation process has been shown to make nutrients like iron more bioavailable. Studies have also shown that nutrients in fermented foods are more likely to survive the treacherous journey through your digestive tract, and actually do the good work they’re designed for. Meaning no nutrient gets left behind!
Of course, the increased bioavailability in fermented foods means you can benefit across our entire range, but the sheer amount of goodness we’ve packed into our Quick Draw Slaw means that if you’re really looking to pack a punch in each bite, Quick Draw is the clear winner.
If all this talk of delicious slaw and increased nutrients has you runnin’ guns a-blazin’ for our Quick Draw, hold fire for a second and check out some of the mouthwatering recipes you could use it in – and don’t forget to check out our stockists to find your nearest jar!
